Programs and activities
Four permanent programs, one continuous pathway for each beneficiary.
A person who reaches SHRFPAK is not handed a single service. Assessment, therapy, equipment, social integration and advocacy are designed to work together along one pathway.
Program 1 — Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Workshops
This is the clinical core of the association. Each beneficiary begins with a functional assessment covering medical history, pain, joint range of motion, muscular strength, postural alignment, balance, gait, transfers and the activities of daily living that matter most to them. The assessment produces a written, individual rehabilitation plan with measurable short-term and long-term objectives.
Therapeutic sessions are delivered at our centre in Tirana and include manual therapy and soft tissue techniques; passive and active mobilisation; progressive therapeutic exercise for strength, endurance and motor control; posture and core stability work; balance and proprioception re-education; gait training with and without aids; and functional training for transfers, stairs, dressing and independent living. Post-operative and post-stroke recovery, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, amputation, arthritis and chronic musculoskeletal pain are all within our scope.
Group rehabilitation workshops complement individual therapy. Small groups work on mobility circuits, balance and coordination, and self-management — including safe home exercise, pain management, skin and pressure care for wheelchair users, and correct use of aids. Family members and caregivers are invited to attend so that the therapy continues correctly at home.
Plans are reviewed at fixed intervals. Objectives that are reached are replaced; objectives that are not reached are re-examined clinically. Subsidised and free places are reserved for beneficiaries in documented financial hardship.

Program 2 — Assistive Devices & Mobility Equipment Distribution
A rehabilitation plan is meaningless if the person cannot leave their bed or their home. Through this program SHRFPAK provides wheelchairs, walkers and rollators, crutches, canes, standing frames, orthopedic supports and cushions, anti-pressure mattresses, bathroom and transfer aids, and other supportive technology to persons who cannot otherwise obtain them.
Devices are never handed over blindly. A practitioner assesses the person's measurements, functional level, home environment and daily routine, then selects and adjusts the appropriate device. The beneficiary and their family receive instruction in safe use, transfers, maintenance and warning signs such as pressure injuries. Where possible, SHRFPAK repairs and refurbishes returned equipment so that it can serve another household.
Requests are prioritised by clinical need and economic situation and are recorded in the association's device register, which documents the device issued, the recipient, the date and the practitioner responsible. Requests may be submitted at +355 69 587 7111 or info@shrfpakrehab.store.
Program 3 — Community Integration & Vocational Workshops

Physical recovery does not automatically produce a life. Many of the people we support have spent years isolated at home, out of school or out of the labour market. This program addresses that directly.
Activities include skill-building and vocational workshops in practical trades, crafts and digital basics; guidance on employment rights, CV preparation and interviews; peer support groups where beneficiaries and families exchange experience; confidence-building and adapted physical and recreational activities; and accompaniment in dealing with public institutions on documentation, disability status and social benefits.
Volunteers, students and family members participate alongside beneficiaries, which is deliberate: the association works on both sides of the barrier, strengthening the person and changing the environment around them.
Program 4 — Public Awareness & Policy Advocacy
SHRFPAK works with municipalities, health institutions, schools, universities, employers and civil society organizations in Albania to improve the accessibility of public infrastructure and to see disability rights enforced in practice rather than only recognised in law.
Our advocacy activity includes accessibility observations of public buildings, pavements, transport stops and service counters, with written recommendations submitted to the responsible authority; awareness campaigns and public information sessions on disability rights, prevention and early rehabilitation; cooperation with universities on curricula and practical placements; and participation in consultations on local and national policy affecting persons with disabilities.
All advocacy is conducted institutionally, in the name of Shoqata e Rehabilitimit Fizik për Personat me Aftësi të Kufizuar (SHRFPAK), TIN L42312451R, and in writing from our official channels.
